SCRIPTURAL VERIFICATION

The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(Romans 10:8-10)

Words of Light Upon the Face of Damnation and Defeat

February 5, 2005

The Lord has brought me life and immortality through his gospel. His death, his burial, and his resurrection have abolished all the pains of sin and its consequences from my record. I am a free man. God has not saved me from my sins to sentence me to damnation and defeat. The stench of my sins should have been enough to remind me of what could have been, but now in Christ, there is a fragrance of love and forgiveness that should cause me to anoint him with my praise forevermore. I praise the living God with all that is within me. If I live a life of regret and worry about the past, the present, or the future, there is no glory that is unto God.

The Lord has come that I might have life. The life that he gives is not a product of sin. Though unbelief has surfaced in me, I will no longer regret my past mistakes and sins. God does not remember them any longer. I am forgiven. He came and swallowed up death in victory. The diet of my God included the menu of my sins and the sins of the whole world. He has consumed all that would have caused me to be trapped in the belly of hell because of the judgment against my sins. Jesus swallowed up all for me.

Now I rest in the power of the redemption that came to pass by the offering of himself for me. He was offered in my stead. Now I no longer worry, for I am forgiven. God's mercy came forth being authored by his love to take my place and usher me into this throne room. Now I lift up my head to the one sitting on the throne of grace and ask boldly for that which I need. I have come with a broken and contrite heart. The Lord will not turn me away. The miracle that I need is not too hard for him. Nothing is too hard for him, the Lord. I believe on him as the scriptures have declared of him, and I see the mighty handiwork of righteousness. The handiwork of righteousness works in the earth as the heavens have declared the excellency of his handiwork. I look to the heavens and see that his excellency is declared. Only God can make a star. Only he can make a galaxy. Only he can make a planet. He has proven himself by his mighty acts. I will not look back to the pit where there is no water. I will look up to the heavens and agree that the heavens declare his glory and the firmament, his handiwork. God came to show me of his handiwork in my life, and I behold the mighty handiwork of salvation.

Hebrews 10:22 - 23

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
