SCRIPTURAL VERIFICATION

The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(Romans 10:8-10)

CONFESSION

Series 2.2.1 - #32

February 1, 2004

I was conceived in sin and shapened in iniquity. I had no choice as to who I would be by natural birth, but I do have a choice as to who I will become by spiritual birth. I was not responsible for being born a sinner, but the full responsibility rests upon me as to whether I will remain one. I can be born a saint today, or I can keep the shackles of sin that were mine when I came into this world. It would be foolish to march to my judgment without the payment price for sins in my life's account. My march in this life could be the march of life to the rhythm of God's love and not the march of death to the tune of spiritual taps and the rhythm of a heart's deep regret. The judgment seat of Christ is not the place to make this decision, but today at the throne of grace is the day to make my decision concerning life and death.

Jesus is a merciful God; therefore, he has presented to me the offer of love. He who believes in him shall never die, yet belief is not simply a confession of the mouth but a confession from the heart and mouth. After which, belief must be demonstrated by the obedience of faith in his death, burial, and resurrection. I must believe and die with him in baptism. If I have not died with him in the waters of baptism, I will not rise to walk with him in this life and the life to come.

I have allowed the waters of life to bring death to me, and now will these same waters lift me unto life with him. The waters that drowned all who were disobedient in the days of Noah also saved Noah and his family. They were saved by water, for the waters of the flood lifted them above the judgment that was in the water. The Lord has come and offered to lift me from the fire of judgment by offering me the Holy Ghost and fire to lift me from the fire of hell's judgment. I have waded into the waters of baptism, and the fire of love has lifted me from the judgment that is the fire of hell. God has said, "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who believes not shall be damned." His love has stretched forth its arms for me as he has already manifested the fruit of faith to strengthen me that I may be able to hear and obey.

Hebrews 10:22 - 23

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
