Children's Bread

But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

Children's Bread

Series 2.8.15 - #227

August 15, 2004

Every man shall be rewarded according to his works. Lay up treasures in heaven where thieves do not break through, nor steal. Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Do not lay up for yourself treasures upon earth where moth and rust corrupt. What have you gained if you have made gold your hope or said to the fine gold, "Thou are my confidence"?

What do you have if you have great wealth and hands that have gotten much?

If destruction from me becomes a terror unto you and you become the enemy of God, what do you have on your side?

Do not allow your heart to be secretly enticed, for I shall punish all evildoers. Do not deny me, the God that is above, by your works. Be careful that you do not secretly rejoice at the destruction of those who hate you, or lift up yourself when evil finds them. Do not suffer your mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul, but pray for those who have despitefully used you. Learn to keep your mouth with a bridle and to not sin with your tongue. Your days are as a vapor, and your age is as nothing. At your best state, you are altogether vanity. It does not profit you anything to walk in a vain show of pride, for if you gather up riches, who shall gather them up after you?

Place your trust in me, and wait on me. From me, comes salvation. I am your rock and your defense. I will not suffer you to be moved; therefore, do not delight yourself in lies. Many people bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly. Wait on me, your God. I am your hope. Place your expectation in me. I am your rock and your salvation. I am your refuge. Trust in me at all times. I am not a respecter of persons. Men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie, for when they are both laid in my balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. If your riches increase, set not your heart upon them, for power belongs unto me only. Mercy belongs unto me, and I will render to every man according to his work. When pride comes, then comes shame, but with the lowly, is wisdom. Be filled with integrity, and it shall guide you. Only righteousness shall deliver you. Riches do not profit you in the day of wrath. A wicked man shall fall by his own wickedness, but the righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way. Lay up your treasure in heaven. How much mercy and love have you laid up in heaven?

How much favor have you given others?

Amos 3: 7 - 8

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
